The distinguished and notable Hatley Castle in Victoria is a historical gem on the south island. It may not have a storied past of knights from the 14th century, but this stone manor, built over a hundred years ago, holds a special place in the region’s heritage. And, as far as local castle weddings go (plus being an ocean view wedding venue!), you simply won’t find one like it.

The castle sits on a 565-acre estate just outside of the city—a short, scenic drive to Metchosin. And yet it feels like a whole enchanted world.

Imagine descending the sweeping staircase and exiting into the Italian Garden for your ceremony. Afterwards your guests can mix and mingle about on the terrace and sip cocktails on the croquet lawn as you take photos amidst flowers. You can also arrange to go a little further on the property for your photo shoot and opt for a dramatic backdrop of the mountains across the Salish Sea.

Later you can twist and shout in the Quarterdeck Ballroom, but first sit down with all your friends and family for a decadent fine dining experience inside (parties larger than 150 are accommodated with a tent set up outside). Catering is done exclusively by Truffles. With linens, chair setup and plenty of other last-minute details organized and taken care of on-site, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the day. 

There are no overnight accommodations at Hatley Castle, however, there are rooms for the bridal party to prepare themselves for the day, leaving an opportunity for group and first-look photos to be taken before the nuptials.

Hatley Castle is a 20-minute drive from downtown Victoria; parking spots are reserved for the bridal party, other guests are responsible for their own transportation.
